GM Observations

I’m surprised that Austria has been so loyal to Italy. Austria really doesn’t need Italy at this point; with one more fleet, Austria could create a stalemate line (it’s clear that E/F are working together and trust each other as long as Austria is a solo threat).

Regardless, Turkey is likely to be eliminated while Russia is likely to survive (for now). England has become the real solo threat in my mind since Italy is making zero attempt to move back to block England. France is still quite vulnerable to an English attack (Brest, Spain, and Belgium are all at risk, although only two of them could be taken). England, however, needs more armies to take on France’s armies. I don’t expect to see an English stab until England has built another army and convoys it to the mainland as part of a stab (unless England is an alliance player who values a strong alliance and 2-way draw more than a solo win).

England is wisely moving for better position instead of simply attacking. Austria may be doing the same thing, but not to the same extent as the English player.

Player Journals

England

This season, my hope is to not lose MAO.  I believe France will continue his ensuring he doesn’t lose a center which means no supported attack on MAO until next season.

At StP, Austria has to support him now AND bounce me out of Livonia to keep me from taking it in the Fall.

France

England got the message, and it looks like we can start a nice cooperation

all units move east !!

Russia

Mos hold. Only hope is to be supported in place.

Italy

Well done, Austria – deliberately supporting the wrong attack.

That’s me done for. Assuming I go down now, I suppose I should do what I can to prevent Austria’s developing an impregnable position.

This is a major repositioning time.

I need to keep England from moving armies through StP, so I will support Russia this move and hopefully be in LVN next move in order to close the door and keep the English from getting any ideas!

I am rather confused by what is going on with England – I half-expect him to take TUN in which case Italy has problems. I will remain warm to Italy and should be able to help him  take SMY to compensate for any loss of TUN to England.

In the meantime, I am moving round to try to take ARM. Hopefully then Italy can release his fleets westwards.

Also, I am keeping a strong defensive line against France – for now. I am going to stay as neutral as I can with France. No need to antagonise, but I do need to get France to attack England and not me.

Should be interesting.

Turkey

My only option is to hold and support until Austria finishes me off. I doubt that Austria will let Italy have my SCs.

Looking at the rest of the map, England was in a great position vs France but seems to have thrown away that advantage.
