Turkey didn’t submit an entry, and I somehow missed that fact and didn’t remind Turkey to provide one. Thus, here is Spring 1905, without Turkey’s thoughts.

GM Observations

Germany will probably be gone at the end of this year. Italy is clearly pro-French (maybe planning to stab Austria once Turkey is gone?) and England re-positioned for future expansion (maybe a solo run as well?).

Meanwhile, Turkey continues to defend as best as possible and AR are stalemated (for now).

When I’m in the position Turkey is in, I typically start to give up. However, Turkey has a chance at making it out of this year with all three home centers still under Turkish rule. Of course, Turkey may lose CON or SMY. I don’t know that A/I will let up on their attack, but if Turkey successfully fends them off long enough, they may have to let up. Perhaps this is why Italy is so keen to help France (to prevent a French attack). If that is the case, that is foresight that I don’t normally have in gunboat.

Player Journals

England

The French build of an army means all of my neighbors combined have 1 fleet.  This should allow me to take control of the seas and gain needed position.

I plan to convoy to Prussia this turn instead of taking Berlin.  Position is more important (especially in the Spring).  I want to be able to help Russia defend Warsaw should Austria take Bohemia this turn and Silesia on the next.

I will be moving my fleet in Liverpool to NAO.  This is much better than Irish Sea because it can’t be bounced.  My presence in NAO will likely result in France moving his fleet back to MAO which is what I want anyway.  Eventually I may need to force him out of MAO hopefully with a signal my only interest is to gain position against Italy.

France

I still trust England, however his build in Lvp does not predict a nice future.

now Germany is almost gone, I have to try to get Mun asap, so I can build a second fleet in Bre if necessary.

with England, we have still a Hughe potential, also with my armies already positioned over the stalemate line…..

Germany

Last days for me. Just giving mutual support for what it’s worth.

Russia

Am supporting A UKR in place to prevent A from gaining that vital space. Hoping that F will take advantage of Ukr’s support to Galicia.

Keep my fingers crossed.

Italy

All right, Germany is done for without any need for my assistance. This is a bit quicker than I’d have liked. But I don’t see it doing any good to turtle.

Turkey has organized a defensive position, but letting T into Smyrna this turn will make T guess which way to defend with Ankara. If Austria is still friendly, there’s the chance of getting into Constantinople this turn.

Quite simply a backside covering season – keeping France and Italy onside and keeping pressure on Turkey & Russia.

Not quite sure what Italy is doing, nor France – and trying to avoid fighting an FI and an RT at the same time.

Tricky times – hoping for clarity very soon.
