Spring 1918 – not sure what I should do

Developments: Austria got his army

Strategic thoughts: should I keep attacking or try to reduce the draw?

  • I have my draw vote up, so if the missing player puts up his draw vote, then the game will end immediately.
  • If Austria does not support-hold Marseilles with Piedmont, then I win. That seems as good a move as any.
  • If I wanted to induce the players into reducing the draw size, I would have to pull back my line very far and surrender some supply centers to the players who I want in the draw. At this point, I don’t really know how that’s possible.
    • Italy is missing 2 of his home centers, and I’ve attempted to the solo win twice against his stalemate positions. He would probably think my attempt to get him to go reclaim his home centers from Austria (and then take out Austria) is an obvious trick.
    • Turkey has all his units loaded up to defend against me, and most of them are fleets. He has no realistic way of attacking Austria.
    • Austria is the main player who I could lure into attacking someone, as he has the most units and isn’t threatened by Turkey or Italy (he could walk all over them probably), but the problem here is that I don’t really have any centers I can easily surrender to him. I suppose I could try to get him to take Warsaw and then Moscow, and then finish off Turkey. He doesn’t seem likely to accept that though.
      • Austria did a support-hold on Turkey, so it seems like he doesn’t really want to reduce the draw size. Would his target really be Italy…?

Orders: only if needed

  • I won’t write out an orders section unless I’m really going to be forced to play out this turn. If the lack of draw vote was just an oversight and the game does end this turn, then that’ll be that.

Nah – the game ended
