Autumn 1916 – I’m struggling to reach 17 centers

Developments: out-guessed yet again
- Turkey made the right guess; he blocked me at Rumania instead of Sevastopol. I should expect no less from such a high-stakes game. Well done, I must say.
Strategic thoughts: I’m going to retreat in the west
- I can’t see how I’ll ever make a breakthrough against Italy and France. It’s too easy for them to block me. Even if I continue to attack in the east, it’s time for me to give up in the west and try to get France eliminated.
- Perhaps if I can make Austria and Italy become anxious about what will happen to them as Turkey gets stronger (and France faces elimination), one of them will make a mistake somewhere. Maybe my moves will induce them to backstab as soon as their positions aren’t needed to hold a line against me.
Orders: retreat in the west, attack in the east
- I’m still stuck at guessing whether Turkey will make a supported attack on Sevastopol or Rumania. I’ll guess Sevastopol this time.
- The rest of my moves should all make sense based on what I explained above.
- I’m supporting Russia into Rumania so that he has a chance of staying alive in Rumania if I take Sevastopol. If Russia is still kicking, I have a chance of taking yet another center. It’s a really small chance though.
