Your Privacy is Important
This Privacy Policy applies to https://brotherbored.com/ (hereinafter, “I”, “me”, or “BrotherBored”). It is BrotherBored’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information collected from operating this website. I respect your privacy, and I am committed to protecting personally identifiable information you may provide me through my blog. I have adopted this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) to explain what information may be collected through my website, how I use this information, and under what circumstances I may disclose the information to third parties. This Privacy Policy applies only to information I collect through this website and does not apply to my collection of information from other sources.
This Privacy Policy, together with the other terms and conditions posted on this website, set forth the general rules and policies governing your use of this website.
Non-Personally Identifying Information
Like most websites, BrotherBored collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. BrotherBored’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how BrotherBored’s visitors use this website. From time to time, BrotherBored may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of this website.
Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to BrotherBored choose to interact with the website in ways that cause BrotherBored to gather personally-identifying information. BrotherBored collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for users leaving comments on blog posts, users who submit questions and comments through the contact form, and users who sign up for the email newsletter. The amount and type of information that BrotherBored gathers depends on the nature of the interaction.
Visitor Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, this website collects the data shown in the comments form, and also collects the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Contact Form
If you contact me through the Contact Page, I may publish the content of your message on this website. The main reason I have the Contact Page is so that fans of this blog can ask me questions that I can publicly answer with a published article. Accordingly, I may publish some or all of your message. I will credit you using any name you prefer (whether just your first name, or some pseudonym you prefer), or leave your identity completely anonymous if you specifically request in your message.
Email Newsletter
If you grant me permission to send emails to your email address, I will send you updates about this website and BrotherBored’s activities in an occasional newsletter. In order to send emails this way, I use the services of third parties (among these third parties are Sumo and Mailchimp) to store the email data in a list so that I can send the emails to the entire list. As far as I know, these third parties do not share or sell your email data with anybody else. However, because these are third parties outside of my control, I can’t guarantee what they do or don’t do with the data they help me collect. I chose these services because they seem reputable, but you have to make your own judgment about whether you are comfortable with these third parties when you opt in to my newsletter.
If you request to be added to my mailing list and then later unsubscribe, your email address will be removed from the list. However, your data may be retained in case you ever re-subscribe (so that your data will simply be re-activated instead of being treated like a new subscriber).
Other 3rd Party Services
BrotherBored may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website. BrotherBored may display this aggregated information publicly or provide it to others. However, I will not disclose your personally-identifying information publicly.
Google Analytics
BrotherBored uses Google Analytics to analyze and aggregate the data gathered from the users of the website. This includes user cookie and usage data, as well as data regarding the time and location of your access to the website. I use this data to understand my audience better, particularly which posts are the most popular. When I see that a lot of users are paying attention to certain content, that makes me want to write more articles that are similar.
I share the Google Analytics data for this site with Sumo so that I can understand the user data better.
Social Media Share Buttons
If you use the share buttons I’ve included on this site, be aware that those buttons link to third party websites or apps over which I have no control. Social media websites like Twitter gather all sorts of data about their users. You should read the privacy polices for those websites prior to using them.
Patreon Features
In order to enable you to use this website with Patreon services, I save certain functionally important Patreon information about you in this website if you log in with Patreon.
These include your Patreon user ID, Patreon username, your first, last names and your vanity name. Additionally, the ID of your campaign at Patreon and your campaign’s Patreon URL are also saved.
If you request that your data be deleted from this website, this data will also be deleted and Patreon functionality will not work. You would need to register on this website and log in to this website with Patreon again in order to re-populate this data and have Patreon functionality working again.

Stackpath may store web log information of site visitors, including IPs, UA, referrer, Location and ISP info of site visitors for 7 days.
